Why is it that while trying to watch a good episode of Gossip Girl (on line I might add) I am bombarded with children's commercials about how "Your child needs this to be successful in life"?
I'm talking like the LeapFrog books for kids. You know like the ones that you point to a word with a special pen and it'll read you the word.
I mean come on what child needs a mini iPad to stimulate learning?
Everyone my age grew up without all of this technological learning and I think we grew up just dandily.
What happened to mothers teaching kids rhythm by tapping the center console to the beat of The Sabbath Prayer from Fiddler on the Roof on the way to day care? Or listening to her tell about why the Rocky Mountains have vertical projections of Dakota Foundation instead of laying flat?
Why does society think children need a Laugh and Learn Puppy to learn how to clap? Is Dad too busy when he comes home from work to take 15 minutes to play paddy cake?
I just think that having all of this technology is encouraging less family interaction time and now this idea is being spread to such young ages...where does it stop?
I feel that soon we are going to just place children in bubbles that feed them information instead of having one-on-one interaction time with them--like the Vulcans on Star Trek.
Can't we go back to Mother-Father-Baby time where learning included laughing and bonding?
I survived so what makes this technology so beneficial?
